Printable Adult Coloring Pages Vs Adult Coloring Books

Printable Adult Coloring Pages Vs Adult Coloring Books

Should I get printable coloring pages or physical Adult coloring books?

printable adult coloring pages vs books

We offer both digital and physical adult coloring books. There is a good reason for this: both formats are great tools for coloring.

Just like there is no right way or wrong way to color, there is no right or wrong answer to the question of whether digital or physical coloring books are better. Both have great benefits. The choice you prefer is completely up to you. You can even do both!

Printable Adult Coloring Books

Digital adult coloring books are great because they give you a ton of flexibility. You can print them out and color them as you want them. If you don’t like one of the pictures, you don’t have to print it out. If you want to color the same picture ten times, you can do that too. If you loved a picture you just finished but want to try it in a different color scheme, you can do it as many times as you want.

Digital adult coloring books are also great for trying out coloring if you are not sure how much you will like it. Rather than buying an entire book, you can print out one sheet from our free digital coloring book PDF, give it a try, and see if you enjoy it as much as we promised you would. If you would like to try out coloring before you buy either a digital or a physical coloring book, just sign up for our email newsletter and we’ll send a full PDF coloring book straight to your email so you can download it, print it out, and start coloring right away.

Speaking of downloading and starting to color right away, this is another benefit of digital coloring books: you can have instant gratification, at least in terms of getting the coloring sheet you want right away. The coloring process itself has nothing to do with instant gratification – in fact, it takes a very long time – but at least you don’t have to wait to be able to start coloring!

Physical Adult Coloring Books

Just as there are always going to be people who love paper books no matter how convenient e-books are, there are always going to be people who love old-fashioned coloring books. You might be one of them!

Physical adult coloring books give you something you can actually hold in your hands. You don’t have to deal with a bunch of different pieces of paper getting scattered around. The book organizes itself and makes a perfectly convenient way to keep all your coloring pages together, since they are already together.

A physical coloring book can encourage you to stretch and challenge yourself in your coloring practice. As fun as it is to print out just the pages you want to color, sometimes the pictures we do not choose represent something that we are uncomfortable about addressing within ourselves. This might be something as simple as the fact that we aren’t sure that we can actually stay inside the lines of a really intricate design, or it might be something more psychological or subconscious, such as an antipathy toward straight lines or repeated designs because they make you feel repressed and restricted. In coloring, as in life, sometimes the things that make us feel uncomfortable are the things that we need to work on. If you are using coloring as a spiritual practice, a coloring book might be the thing you need to be able to take full advantage of the benefits of coloring.

In terms of convenience, physical books take fewer steps to be able to start coloring. Instead of having to make sure you have paper, make sure the printer has ink, pick a picture, print out the page, and find a hard surface to color on (if you’re not sitting at a table), all you have to do is pick up the book and start coloring. You can carry your coloring book along with you wherever you go, so if you just have a couple of moments to color you can pull out your pencils and give yourself a little relaxation.

And, of course, a physical coloring book is bound. You don’t have to worry about pages falling out or flying everywhere, and you can place it neatly on a shelf. People who do coloring books often find themselves acquiring quite a collection of coloring books that they display nicely on a bookshelf.

It’s Up To You

In the end, it is up to you whether you choose physical coloring books or digital coloring books. Both formats have benefits. Some people are die-hard physical book fans, some people love digital books, and many people do whichever is most convenient at the moment. Just have fun!
